Wild Tracks

On behalf of the world's wild species

What In The World? #1

We’re starting a new tradition here on Wild Tracks. Each Friday we will be featuring an obscure member of The Carnivora Family. The posts will tell you about the animal, but won’t identify it – you’ll have until Monday to try and figure out what it is!

Our critter this week has a slender body, long legs equipped with strong claws, and a long tail. Coat color is brown to black with varying amounts of white on the head and throat. They weigh from 2 to 5 kg.

Large paws and semi-retractable claws make them excellent climbers, and their strong tails help them balance while moving from branch to branch.

These forest dwellers are active day and night, and generally solitary except for family groups.

Hint: They are only found in South America.

If you’re really up on your carnivores and think you know what this is, drop us a line at bytes@wildcarnivore.com, or leave a comment below.
