Wild Tracks
On behalf of the world's wild species
Sand Kittens
February 17, 2010
Posted by on Although many people aren’t aware of their existence, there are 30 small wild cat species in the world. The deserts of North Africa and the Middle East are home to Sand Cats Felis margarita who exist in harsh, arid habitats. Little is known of their life in the wild, but much is being learned about their ecology in captive breeding situations.
These adorable babies are the latest stars in Cincinnati Zoo’s wonderful wild cat population.
To learn more about Sand cats and the other small wild cat species, visit the International Society for Endangered Cats Canada website.
I hope there’s no real exposure of the sand cats’ home areas. Men will move in
to hunt them, and there go the cats.
